About the Book
Hewn from years of trial and error and hard-won-experience, and proven through mentoring sessions with hundreds of professionals for more than a decade, the Career Positioning System is a methodical, highly personalized approach to managing your career. It eschews the "rat race" mentality and presents your career as something you own, that's designed to take you where you want to go—much like the GPS system on your phone or in your car.
The Career Positioning System isn't about "getting ahead;" it's about getting where you want to be, which might be ahead, sideways, slightly diagonally, or whatever. It's a way of thinking about your career—a critter that many of us don't really give much thought to at all. And your career is also presented as something that can, if you wish, help other people. A chance, if you will, to stop looking "up" your career ladder for just a moment, and to instead look "down" and see who else might need a hand up.
This is a living book, and purchasing it on Leanpub is a smart investment. The Career Positioning System will grow over the next year or two, allowing me to share something right away and then continue adding and expanding—truly Agile publishing. Note that the book's minimum price will go up over time, so the earlier you buy in, the more value you'll realize over the long haul. As-is, I've started to flesh out the table of contents so that you can get a feel for what's coming, and device if this feels like the right ground-floor investment for you.
