About the Book
So much is being said about cybersecurity these days. Yesterday, one company got hacked. Today, another. Perhaps tomorrow, you will be the target. Threats like malware, ransomware, and social engineering lurk everywhere.
As a startup founder or CTO, it’s easy to lose sleep over the thought of these cyber threats. Perhaps your company has reached a point where you can’t ignore cybersecurity any longer. Or maybe you are interested in taking proactive measures to protect your app and users. You might even deal with the aftermath of a security breach already.
Regardless of the circumstances, cybersecurity is something you’ll inevitably need to address. To put it lightly, I believe Dan Ariely’s slightly altered cliched quote sums it up perfectly:
Cybersecurity is like teenage sex; everyone talks about it, nobody really knows how to do it, everyone thinks everyone else is doing it, so everyone claims they are doing it.
This book is not intended to serve as an exhaustive manual on SecOps. Instead, it presents a compilation of best practices for evaluating weak spots in your product and company and fostering a robust security culture within your organization.
The book is divided into chapters, each focusing on a different topic. Feel free to read them in any order that suits you, but I recommend starting with the ones that resonate most with your company’s current needs.
