About the Book
Logic is like arithmetic for booleans. This book teaches enough formal logic to apply to a wide range of programming tasks, including database constraints, case analysis, test coverage, and more!
The book's current status is ALPHA:
- I expect to make a lot of expansions and changes to existing topics, based on alpha reader feedback.
- Prose is not fully polished
- Notations in use may be inconsistent and may change with the next revision
- I have not given any attention to layout, polishing, proofreading, etc
- I have no cover page and default Sphinx configs.
The book will be getting regular improvements as I continue to work on it, and I'm hoping to have a feature-complete draft by the end of the year. Whenever that's done, we'll enter beta!
If you buy the book now, you'll get all future version for free as well as input into how it develops. I'll be raising the price to 20 once 1.0 is ready.

- New chapter: "System Modeling", about TLA+.
- "Tools" chapter split into separate "solvers" and "logic programming" chapters.
- "Solvers" expanded and has real-world motivating problem now instead of toy problem.
- 0.3 didn't actually have the claimed Z3 example. Now added for real.
- "Logic programming" now covers planning (with example)
- "Data modeling" and "Database invariants" revised
- "Testing" chapter has more explanation of how to use PBT in the ways people actually use it
- Epub and PDF now have "acknowledgements" section
